Your first print

Formlab todo: add more pictures

  1. Power on
    1. Turn on the computer.
    2. Turn on the power supply on the left side of the machine.
    3. Turn on the machine by pressing the round metal power-button on the left bottom of the front panel:
  2. Make connection
    1. Open Repetrel on the computer (Repetrel is not running on the tablet anymore).
    2. Test the connection by clicking on the Light button on top of the Repetrel UI:
  3. Home the X and Y axes
    1. You NEED to home the machine before starting any other motion
    2. click on the Home X-Y button.
    3. We will home the Z axis later
  1. Have a cylinder filled plasticine on hand. If not, load the plasticine yourself
  2. Make sure it has a nozzle diameter of 1.5mm.
  3. Attach it to the EMO-25 tool head.
  4. Rub a little plasticine on the bed (for adhesion)
  1. Install the tool head in slot 2 of the yoke
  2. Check Repetrel control panel to check if the head is recognised. If so, the buttons in slot 2 light up.
    1. Repetrel is the software that slices the 3D model and controls the printer.
  3. Home the Z-axis (Set extruder head height).
    1. Put a piece of paper under the nozzle.
    2. Click Enable Z-calibrate. When the button is red and the arrow on it's right is lit up yellow, It is now possible to carefully raise the bed to the nozzle.
      • The arrows show the motion from the perspective of the table:
      • UP = closer to the nozzle
      • DOWN = further away from the nozzle
    3. Raise the bed until the paper is lightly pinched between the nozzle and the bed.
    4. Un-click Enable Z-calibration to set the current position as Z-ZERO.
  4. Set nozzle diameter to 1.5mm in the head-control section (picture)
  1. Click the big button: Object > Add STL file > Open STL & go to Desktop > TEST SHAPES and select Formlab testcylinder.stl.
  2. Offsets-tab.
    1. Click the round target button to center it on the print bed.
  3. Print-tab: select the desired Slic3r profiles.
    1. Print: Formlab Plasticine Default. Check if filename is correct
    2. Printer: Unheated head.
    3. Extruder 2: No heat, no fan, no bed.
  4. Click the big Process button & select Slice with Slic3r.
  1. Prime a little material.
  2. When the G-code preview looks good, click Print
    1. Use Z fine adjust (Z+ = bed closer to nozzle, Z- = bed further away from nozzle)
    2. Use Kill Job when you want to stop the test.
